Y3 – Day 112 – Tulip Patch

IMG_3916What a wonderful surprise awaited me today when I arrived at my Treehouse Sanctuary.

IMG_3917And more to come. From a simple 10 minute digging into earth, a massive, healthy and 100% response from Mother Nature’s Bulbs.

If you haven’t had the joyous experience yet, I encourage you to spend a few dollars and a few minutes come fall (or spring/now for summer blooms in your area – check with your nursery). It is probably the easiest return and fascinating reward for your time and effort.

Your inner child will be in awe as they slowly but surely progress. The bulbs burst through the earth, they grow, they bloom and they wither. It is sure to entertain and fill your heart.

Y3 – Day 85 – Treehouse Spring 2015

I couldn’t resist continuing the garden theme as the few bulbs I plant at the treehouse only last 3-4 weeks total and I had the pleasure and honor of viewing them in person. The white furled blooms have a delicious, intoxicating scent but only if you come up close and sniff. I planted this set our first fall and they look wispy against the steep slope and crags between rocks. Yet, they are sturdy and flexible. As breezes sweep by them, they sway and pop back erect. Their “faces” pray humbly as their heavy bloom heads nod.

Y3 – Day 84 – little birdie

DSC09307This little guy graced my patio deck right where I could glimpse him from my kitchen window as I washed some dishes up in Lake Arrowhead. I immediately thanked the Earth for this adorable friend, for its appearance, existence and my ability to stop and contemplate the good all around me. I spent most of the day up here wrestling with the furnace and spying the little birdie gave me a sense of ease and comfort. I KNEW everything would be all right. He left but I could still trace his path as he flew away to close in trees and shrubs and then he came back and posed for me again, giving me his other Hollywood stance and a view of his back.

DSC09306Small and yet important. Just a gesture, a nod from the Universe. I smiled, laughed inside and felt not alone. I KNEW I was connected to all living, breathing and vibrating beings.

Y3 – Day 44 – Open Eyes

Opening my eyes to opportunities and possibilities has helped me to build strength of character, anticipate work and study twists of fate and has given me immeasurable insights. It has led me to see with arms outstretched not crossed, smell my own and another’s fear, partake of once in a lifetime chance meetings and feel the world’s synchronicity happening.

Yesterday I had Open Eyes and I took Cindi to what looks like an abandoned pile of rubbish with a trail to walk her.

IMG_3713On this trail there are discarded water drainage pipes standing up about three feet high and two feet in diameter. Some have painted art and it would have been remiss of me not to mention and show the ones that spoke to me.

IMG_3714This dark-skinned woman holds a sphere in her left hand. Her hands are in a receptive meditative pose. The sun beams behind her like a fiery halo of light. Rays spike from the held orb. Is she Mother Earth or Pachamama? Is she the embodiment of all women as goddess? There is a pyramid of stairs rising up to her pelvis where a child or extraterrestrial steps out. I am not an art critic or interpreter but it has a strong visceral, spiritual, almost other worldly tone to it.

IMG_3715On this deserted tube of cement, a man seems to be outstretching his hands inside a lighted teepee during a full moon. Again, I felt drawn to its indigenous flavor and mystic quality. Is he thanking or beseeching the moon? Who is he?

IMG_3716In this signed piece (look at bottom of tree trunk), The pond or lake is rounded, the colors suggest sunset and it has an extremely restful, albeit fishbowl presence.

Y3 – Day 15 – Contemplation Gifts

Reading and re-reading Gifts from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh inspires me to write about the treehouse in the same manner. Perhaps, Secrets of the Forest or Memories above the Mountains or The Treehouse Speaks or Observations of Nature’s Value or My Cabin’s Soul.

Any pine cone related thought will do. How they drop heavy, weary from high suspension, off the highest tops of century old evergreens. How when they let go, they are mulched into the earth, used as decor by passing tourists or sown into the ground to resurrect a new tree. Filling their tissues and cells with nutrients all summer long, they submit to the winds which shake them off in the fall. Drumming on rooftops, bouncing off rocks, they lay in wait for hungry squirrels and chipmunks, critters of the forest. A conical skeleton is left to rot.

Any lake reference works. How the water reflects the sky in brimming blue. How the basin is teeming with aquatic life. Ducks skimming across to fetch feed dropped by children and adults alike. The sightseeing steamboat, The Queen, cruising by for all to see. Facts which are measured like how the level rises and falls according to the rainfall. The top layer sinks due to the frigid depth and then the bottom rises to the warmer atmosphere, recycling and regenerating, keeping the water refreshed. A scenic vista, photographed countless times, documented as a famous Hollywood set for decades.

Any meditative idea becomes poetic. Viewing issues differently, making every moment unique. Themes, relationships and mysteries are uncovered and organically discovered within this contemplative world. The thinned air lightens your mind. The colors bring rest. Rocks are weathered, jagged, broken while twigs come alive or snap. Nature in its glory. Streams reveal the health of the mountain while birds forage and communicate. The Starling Blue, the Red Headed Woodpecker and the black and white Spotted Chickadees with yellow throats and spotted tummies dance and sing, nourish and swoop. They each have a love song.

The woods have a hold on me, even just thinking about it.

DSC00082Inside my head is peace.

When I am struggling, remind me of this moment, the snapshot of heaven.

When I am caught up, battling my own poisoned, imaginary, scary thinking – May I remember the snow and the contrasts and the squirrels.

Mindfully paying attention…

Y2 – Day 317 – Rocks and Fossils

There’s a great and informative geological store in Lake Arrowhead Village called – Lake Arrowhead Jurassic Fossils.  Here you will find geodes, crystals, jewlery, fossils, petrified woods, minerals and rare and unique, one of a kind earthly gifts.  Robert and Teresa are the owners and together they make a strong and dynamic team.  Robert knows a lot about the scientific, mining and business side and Teresa makes jewlery and explains the metaphysical qualities of it all.  They both have traveled extensively to refine their skills and do research.  They have settled in our mountain – lake area and visiting their shop is always an education.

The fossil/geode/rock/dinosaur/statue side.

The jewlery and rare gem and stones side.

Y2 – Day 292 – Autumn Now

Autumn is a time for reflection.  As the leaves turn from bright greens to dramatic yellows, fiery reds and crisp oranges, thoughts become pensive and ready for review.

It is a season to harvest ideas, begin and end projects, till the memories under and clear a path for fresh encounters.

As we prepare our souls for winter, let us re-evaluate our spirits.

Wonders never cease to amaze when miracles abound.

Awakening to our true gifts astounds us.
