Y3 – Day 167 – Simplicity

Due to unforeseen personal circumstances, I lapsed a day of blogging.

Is it possible that in order to clarify my goals and find balance in my life I need to come back to the basic theme of SIMPLICITY?

The more I give away, toss out and re-distribute my house, the more I shed burdens, the past and old thinking patterns.

Releasing objects, I discard beliefs that do not serve me anymore.

Synchronicity : my friend told me about a book she is reading about tidying up and organizing and this is exactly my focus for the past week and goal for the summer. Needless to say, it is on its way to my front doorstep.

Follow me as I de clutter, re-work and re-order priorities – shifting my perspective, reframing my thoughts and restructuring my internal compass.

Y3 – Day 165 – Optimism

A friend shared this with me and I wanted to share it because I endeavor to spread the idea that there needs to be a revival of good fortune by way of good thinking and these words are splendid, timeless and essential to positive thinking!

The Optimist Creed

Promise Yourself To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every living creature you meet.
To give so much time to improving yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud word, but in great deeds.
To live in the faith that the whole world is on your side, so long as you are true to the best that is in you.

The original Optimist Creed, written by Christian D. Larson in his 1912 book, Your Forces and How to Use Them

Y3 – Day 164 – Four Nightly Rituals

At Bedtime – Every night, adopt one or more ideas and incorporate into your daily round.

1. Make a cup of herbal tea and sip. I love licorice with its naturally sweet flavor.

2. Review the day and your behavior. Do you need to rectify anything? Add it to a small pad and pencil you keep on your nightstand. Having writing material near makes it easy for recording dreams.

3. Curl up with a good book till your eyes get droopy.

4. Give Thanks to the Universe for keeping you safe and alive another day.

Structuring the day by bookending it with AM and PM habits gives us comfort and continuity. It grounds us, gives us roots and keeps us stable no matter what else is going on.

Y3 – Day 163 – Seven Morning Rituals

Try to incorporate one or two of these or all seven when you wake up.

1. Prayer – Before your feet hit the floor in the morning, open your eyes and pray or at least say aloud that you are grateful for another day of life.  I say – Goodness, ‘thank you, help me stay safe and sane today, guide me today and let me be of service, thank you.’

2. Meditate – Read something inspirational and sit still for at least five minutes or do any practice you find meditative like yoga or breath work.

3. Journal – Alongside your morning beverage, have a spiral notebook and favorite pen that just glides and write down in a stream of consciousness. Release all the clutter from your head or note the events of the day or the day before.

4. Review – Give your calendar and agenda a once over. Check things to do, organize, map out your day and keep tabs on the weather. Make sure you are not overdoing it and delete or reschedule so you are not overwhelmed daily.

5. Eat Slow and Mindfully – Try to stay in the healthy range and never miss breakfast.

6. Move – Walk, work out at the gym or do some sort of movement like yoga or stretching. Any exercise counts. Otherwise your blood just doesn’t circulate.

7. Mantra – Every forty days, repeat a new Sanskrit mantra or affirmation of your choice in English using mala beads.

Y3 – Day 160 – Happy birthday V!!

To our 22 year old little Hummel V,

Happy Birthday to a bright, young and beautiful woman with ambition!

You set high standards, you have an innate and impeccable sense of values. Your longing and passion to right the wrongs is ethical and inspiring. You have your whole life ahead of you and a whole world to conquer! Be the Change!!!

Y3 – Day 157 – New History

Everyday is an adventure. Every morning is a chance to start over and begin again.

We literally cannot change the past or live in it. Today is New History.

Whatever we do today is stamped into the future and becomes our story as we reflect back.

Our actions, words and thoughts today will one day become our memories.

We cannot make the old tapes go away but we can work on being the best sentient beings today.

Y3 – Day 156 – Working on Self

All this too shall pass.

More will be revealed.

Know its a job from the inside out.

I worked diligently on self during deep desperation by writing and crying and just laying around. When I had any energy at all- I tried to complete a task.

The real turnaround happens when we pick up the phone and ask for help, guidance and relief from self.

We can shrivel up or climb out of the hole. Little by little. It’s up to us.

Succumbing again to feeling blue or worse and allowing the whole process to repeat is part of the deal. Each time, we feel just a bit more like ourselves, with alterations, changes or adjustments to our personality or character. Of course that takes tweaking. Of course it is going to hurt. That is what molting feels like. We grow new skin and at first it is very thin and raw.

Suffering only occurs when we resist the flow.

Y3 – Day 155 – Honesty

HONESTY

“Our lives improve only when we take chances ~
and the first and most difficult risk we can take is to be honest with ourselves.”
Walter Anderson

I love this quote. Lately, I have been raw honest with self. It has been a revelation. Basically, anytime I have an issue with anyone or anything, I look in the mirror. That is where the solution lies. My attitude is everything. My perspective is all. The person reflected in the looking glass is responsible for her own responses, behaviors and expressions.

If I deem myself worthy enough to take credit for the good that comes my way, the satisfactory actions that I display or the gifts I bestow – then why not the judgment,  complaints and criticism?

I think I am growing up. Hmmmm. Imagine that.

Y3 – Day 153 – Good 4Me

After working out, eating clean, getting everything done on my list plus some and then being taken through a meditation/exercise on forgiveness, I feel blissful.

IMG_4070I am in transition, I am on my way up another level of vibration and I am grateful.

I can just hear Imagine Dragons sing on their song, Radioactive – “Welcome to the New World” and they are singing it to me.

You know – you can take anything and find the gift in it. I can take this song and find my own new meaning in it if I want to.

Make it YOUR day!

Now I understand Carpe Diem. For reals.
