Y5 – Day 180 – Jan. 2, 2019

No title needed. This is the time of year when we all have good intentions but I am still reviewing the past. It went so fast.

I got my wish this year and was able to spend New Year’s here in the glorious mountain hideaway I call my tree house. To be more accurate, this cabin, in its entirety, feels more like a sanctuary. Surrounded by chirping squirrels with fluffy tails, cold weather feathered friends and glistening pine needles swaying right outside my wall of windows, I am inspired to find my spiritual self.

Y5 – Day 179 – Happy New Year Intentions

Another year, another blogging opportunity and another chance to let the divine light inside all of us to glow and reach others in despair or hopelessness, including ourselves.

Another moment to grasp the present, embrace our shadows and exude delight in being alive.

Another year to show our loved ones how much we care, including all sentient beings, holding and sending compassion to the world. Once again, we are challenged to forgive, be merciful and treat our enemies, thorns and disagreeable situations with unrelenting awareness.

Y5 – Day 178 – Gratitude for the House

Although we didn’t quite get a Blue Wave, Washington got splashed on enough to perhaps, just maybe hope, to put a check on this fascist. We need to start calling it what it is. The sooner we do, the better.

In a fit of panic, my mother called me. “Are you watching the news?”

No, I replied, “I am taking the day off from politics and nurturing myself today.” I proceeded to ask her why, though.

As it turns out, Mr. Orange was spewing how he won and how great he is and on and on, I guess, about lies and fear. She said only someone who has lived through dictatorship could understand her angst. I said, “I know.”

We cannot become a version of 1984 or Germany pre- WW2. Or what made my family flee from Argentina. Every one of us came from a torn family, escaping and/or looking for something. We wanted better for our children. Unless, you are a descendant of an indigenous tribe, or forced into slavery, you were given exile here. We must learn from history, philosophy and humanitarian studies. We still need to put up a fight and we still need to call lies out.

Never have I seen such dedication to the country as those who participated and voted for common decency and Statue of Liberty values yesterday.

I am grateful to the press that hammers away at what is starting to look like an unbelievably corrupt and nefarious, dangerous White House and all their power hungry, greedy, nationalistic cronies.

I will continue to honor my ethics and care for myself today in quiet solitude. In order to be of service, we must preserve our ideals and maintain equanimity within.

Y5 – Day 176 – Election Eve 2018

“We can learn the art of fierce compassion – redefining strength, deconstructing isolation and renewing a sense of community, practicing letting go of rigid us-vs.-them thinking – while cultivating power and clarity in response to difficult situations.”  – Sharon Salzberg

May tomorrow be a win for democracy, women, people in need, compassion, Mother Earth and love not fear!

GO VOTE for YOUR LIFE  and the FUTURE OF THIS WORLD

Y5 – Day 174 – Global vs. National

Unbeknownst to Drumpf, we live in a global community. Enlightenment and Internet have yet to reach the White House. Only Twitter, fear and inciting his base exist.

When yesterday he spoke candidly of how he was a nationalist when probed, he said, “For too long we have given and cared about the rest of the world and not focused on our own country.”

That’s when it hit me. He doesn’t get the concept of what we give, we receive. He is dumbfounded by the power of generosity and the sheer joy of coming to the aid of others. Plainly, he finds no reason for empathy.

He believes abundance is in short supply, fearing he won’t get it ALL like Daffy Duck at Pismo Beach. “All mine, all mine,” he whimpered, then screamed as he ran around and tried to gather all the pearls out of oyster shells on the beach. Bugs Bunny just let karma take its course. “What’s up, Doc?” While he chomped on a carrot.

As a globalist, I invite all opinions that help, support and awaken me. I enlarge and expand spiritually, mentally and emotionally. In other words, I grow in wisdom when I listen, empathize and give to others.

As a nationalist, you hate, you bully and you become smaller. You remain stagnant and start to stink. You shrivel like a slug with every grain of salty nastiness.

This is spiritual law. And, Drumpf and his cronies who support this message don’t see past their own survival. I forgive them and love them so my heart is not turned to stone, as well.

But, I will always resist and fight for the freedoms the USA has afforded my family after escaping the same inane historical tyranny, generation after generation, continent to continent. Even if that ideal doesn’t exist here anymore.

Y5 – Day 173 – VOTE

One of the most important voting moments in history is upon us. Why? Because after the discouraging outcome wherein once again the popular vote was ousted in favor of discriminatory practices (see 2000 judicial decision and 2016 gerrymandering lines), a message must be sent to ugly, angry, fear-mongering Americans.

Instead of hateful, separation of children as if they were less than your drycleaning and couldn’t be bothered to have a receipt in order to re-unite them with their parents, I vote for not repeating evil practices that harken back to genocidal eras.

I voted already, actually and I voted with my heart, not my pocketbook.

Allowing violence, hypocrisy and sexual assault to normalize our cultural speak is abhorrent to the spiritual side of ourselves.

We have already permitted way too much to go on untethered to what we know to be of value. Our environment, our climate and other sentient beings need us.

Are we to abandon all of our common and survival senses? No world will survive without saving it in unison. Dollars for billionaires don’t bring back habitats destroyed, waters polluted or unbreathable air.

Vote for your life!

Vote for decency!

Vote to still have a vote in 2020, not a tyrannical lunatic.

Vote November 6th!

Y5 – Day 171 – Full of Love

George Sand so succinctly stated, “There is only one happiness in life … to love and be loved.”

Many thanks to my chickadees, one and all, who are now full-fledged songbirds. My time with them and their partners enlarge my vision, grows my heart and fills me with hope. Space and awareness lead to learning. Needed words spill into longing arms.

Our moments together this week inspired me into action. Even more important, our connections rang true and our bonds deepened.
