Follow your dream, exercise your uniqueness and express your authentic sparkle. That is how I interpret the above quote by a man who changed the world by thinking outside the box and taking it to the next level. There are many such movers and shakers. Some are not even famous nor rich, they just carry out their humble, possibly small but needed purpose.
In the Japanese culture, individuality is not encouraged. There is a well-known saying, “The nail that stands out gets pounded down.” Cooperation, humility, and the collective cause supersedes the individual interest. No wonder I spend most of my life building someone else’s future. Today, like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon, I can feel good about being who I am with all of my flaws, quirks, and…yes, gifts to share. I am living my dream.
